01 / Create your first video

Sign in, purchase a credit pack or plan, then create a key in the developer console. Set SEEDANCE_API_KEY in your server environment. Keep it out of browser code, public repositories and client apps.

The example costs 70 credits at the current rate. Accepted requests return a task ID; poll about every 10 seconds until state is success or fail. Completion depends on provider availability.

02 / REST endpoints

Base URL: https://seedance2.page/api/v1. Every endpoint requires Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY. JSON requests require Content-Type: application/json. Cookies alone do not authenticate this API.

03 / Models and request fields

These examples use text or image input; video-reference rates differ. Billing rounds up to a whole credit. All models accept 480p and 720p. Availability depends on the upstream provider.

• prompt: required, 1–4,000 characters.
• model: defaults to seedance-2.0; use an ID from the table.
• duration: whole seconds, defaults to 5; resolution: defaults to 720p.
• aspect_ratio: 16:9 (default), 4:3, 1:1, 3:4, 9:16 or 21:9.
• generate_audio: boolean, defaults to true.
• Optional references: uploadDraftId, reference_image_urls (up to 9), reference_video_urls (up to 3), first_frame_url, last_frame_url. Use files uploaded through this service; arbitrary external URLs are rejected.

Pass the returned url in reference_image_urls and draft ID as uploadDraftId when generating. Generation settings must match the draft. Video uploads use /uploads/videos and reference_video_urls.

Reference files and access links expire 24 hours after draft creation and cannot be accessed after expiry. Upload again when needed. References stay in private storage; temporary signed links are supplied to the model. Generated results have a separate lifecycle.

Verified active paid account and sufficient balance required. Upload limits per account: 3/minute, 20/day, 100 MB/day, 20 retained files and 6 unused references. Images at most 10 MB; videos at most 20 MB. Format and media validation, plus site-wide quotas, apply.

05 / Billing, retries and errors

API and Web Studio share a balance and generation rates. No separate API subscription or key fee. No free signup or daily credits are issued. Credits are debited when submitting generation; failed provider generations use the existing refund flow. Check task status before retrying.

Set a unique Idempotency-Key per intended generation (8–128 letters, digits, underscores or hyphens). Retry the same payload with the same key within 24 hours to replay the original response. Different payloads return 409; a still-processing request also returns 409. Do not switch keys to retry an unknown outcome.

Across all keys per account: 60 requests/minute, 3000/day, 100 generation submission attempts/day including retries. Generation also shares the Studio limit of 3/minute. Daily quotas reset at 00:00 Asia/Shanghai. Source-IP and upload limits may return 429 earlier.

400 / 413 / 415

Invalid fields, oversized body or wrong content type.

401

Missing, invalid, expired or revoked key.

402 / 403

Purchase or balance required; unverified or restricted account.

404

Task unavailable or owned by another account.

409

Idempotency conflict, processing request or used reference draft.

429 / 5xx

Quota reached or service/provider unavailable. Back off and check the task.
